Off the wall ♥

At the mid-life of the Jackson Five in 1971 Motown decided that Michael should go solo but stay with the J5 also. His first single was "Got to be there" and it was a Top 5 hit. He also sang the opening song for the movie Ben. Other successful singles were "rockin robin" and "I wanna be where you are". During 1972 J5 left Motown, due to the financial crisis they were in, and went to Epic records. Michael continued in the band and his solo career. In 1978 Michael stared as the Scarecrow in the movie musical The Wiz which was the funked up version of the Wizard of Oz. Many Years later, Michael says "The wiz was my greatest experience so far, and I will never forget that."
The music in the movie was arranged by Quincy Jones. When Michael was at this age, he was a VERY sensitive and shy person. He called Quincy one day and said "I'm interested in doing an album. Could you recommend anyone who would be interested in producing it with me or working with me?" And Quincy replied "Why don't you let ME do it?" And after that Michael said to himself, "I don't know why i didn't think of that." But later he says that he was probably thinking that Quincy Jones was his father. Then Michael said to Quincy, "WOW that would be great." And Michael says later, "Whats great about Quincy is that he doesn't hover, he lets you do your thing."
And that was off the wall.
